On March 3, Forward Careers kicked off two short-term training programs in cybersecurity and web development. More than 80 applications were received for the training programs, which seek to provide skills-based career development for underserved young adults with barriers to employment pursuing opportunities for careers in information technology.
Forward Careers has partnered with Rex Academy, a computer science training organization, to provide 16 week training programs specifically designed for individuals looking to work in cybersecurity and web development roles. Students will start next week in an extensive series of courses to include cybersecurity and web development fundamentals, intro to python, computer networking, JavaScript, JQuery, angular fundamentals, and much more.
“The training programs are centered on teaching in-demand skills in an approachable and consumable way,” said Cindy Simons, president of Forward Careers.
Students will be prepared to take exams to attain industry recognized certificates in:
CompTIA IT Fundamentals (ITF+)
CompTIA Network +
CompTIA Security+, Exam 98-38
Introduction to Programming Using HTML and CSS
Introduction to Programming Using JavaScript
HTML5 Application Development Fundamentals
The training programs are funded by the Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act Youth program provided by the WOW Workforce Development Board.
